We picked Lantern Oaks because the amenities looked nice and the price seemed fair. Two nights later, we were already talking about coming back. Getting our 44-foot fifth wheel into the site was easy, the pool area was relaxing, and the dog park was the best we have found so far.
Arrival, check-in and fitting a large fifth wheel
Check-in was easy. I went into the office, checked in and we headed to our site. The roads were wide enough, and the turns were easy in our 44-foot fifth wheel.
Site 120 was long and wide enough for our fifth wheel and truck. The water, power and sewer hookups were easy to reach, and we had no trouble getting level or finding room for the truck.
Several of the pull-through sites are Social Sites, so be sure to check which sites are included when you book. Site 120 was a Social Site, and we did not realize it when we made the reservation.

The best RV dog park we have seen
The dog park was the standout feature for us. It is huge, shaded, completely fenced and very well maintained. There are separate areas for large and small dogs, water for the dogs, waste bags and trash cans.
The turf around the people bench was a smart touch because that is exactly where grass usually turns to mud. Ruby had plenty of room to sniff and explore, and there were also many places to walk her throughout the resort.

Pool, hot tub and weekend atmosphere
We used the pool and hot tub and stayed to listen to live music. They also offered poolside bar service. The whole weekend felt peaceful.

Wi-Fi, AT&T service and noise
The resort Wi-Fi worked well for us. Kevin was able to play a game on his Oculus without a problem, which told us more than a basic speed test would have. Our AT&T phone service was also good.
We did not notice traffic noise. We heard only a few planes, and although they flew close, they did not bother us. Another guest who had been there for a week told us the planes were much more noticeable on weekdays. We cannot confirm that because we were only there for the weekend.
Bathrooms and other ways to stay
We did use the bathrooms, and they were very clean. The resort still felt new, and everything we saw was pristine. The staff members we met were friendly and helpful.
The resort also rents tiny homes to people who do not have campers. This matters to us because my mom likes to travel with us, but it is hard for her to get in and out of our fifth wheel, so she rents a cabin or tiny home instead.
Exploring Fredericksburg with Ruby
A hot afternoon in Luckenbach
Ruby loves going new places, sniffing around and meeting people, so Luckenbach was a fun stop for her. It was not too crowded during our visit, which gave her room to explore and see everyone.
The temperature started climbing, so we did not stay outside very long. We took Ruby inside with us, where she was welcome during our visit. We would take her again, but we think Luckenbach would be more enjoyable with a dog during the cooler winter months.

Treat shopping at Dogologie
We also took Ruby downtown to Dogologie. The staff was extremely friendly and gave her plenty of attention and love.
The store had lots of treats that dogs could sample before their people bought them. Ruby happily tried the samples, received plenty of treats and helped us leave with quite a few things.

Would we return?
Yes. We had no trouble with our 44-foot fifth wheel, Ruby loved the dog park, and we thought the amenities were worth what we paid. Our only mistake was not realizing site 120 was a Social Site. Next time, we will check before booking.
